Perjury Sheriff's deputies last week charged Vicki L. Ames, 37, of Nicholson Road in the Town of Howard with first degree perjury. Ames allegedly offered false testimony in Family Court on Dec. 4. She was arraigned in Bath village court and is to reappear in court at a later date. Suspended permit Deputies on April 12 stopped a Pennsylvania man in the Town of Howard for allegedly towing a dolly that had no external signal lights. Investigators subsequently determined Shawn D. Shelly, 29, of McCrea Brook Lane, Eldred, Pa., had 10 outstanding suspensions and revocations on his expired New York state permit. He was charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no signal devices. Shelly was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on $250 bail. He is to appear in Howard town court at a later date. Improper disposal An investigation by Steuben County Sheriff 's deputies and the New York D e p a r t m e n t o f Environmental Conservation led to several charges against Daniel R. Snyder, 49, of 6669 Babcock Road, Bath. The charges are: operating an unlicensed junk yard, improper disposal of used oil, operating a solid waste facility without a permit and storage of more than 1,000 tires without a valid permit. The New York State Environmental Conservation Emergency Spill Response Unit also was called to the Snyder property in response to a large amount of ground soil contamination. Investigators allege Hornell Waste, located in Hornell, was involved in Snyder's operation and another junk yard in the Town of Wayland. The investigation continues with other sites to be examined. |
