Urbana residents need lake access

On May 3, Town of Urbana residents will be able to vote one more time on acquiring land for a park on the lake front. For years we were spoiled because the owners had allowed unfettered access to the lake front (expect for one day in the dead of winter.) Well, ownership changed and so have the times.

We need to vote yes on the measure so there will be a small piece where we can walk without interfering with swimmers and boat launching, where folks can continue to fish without the noise of swimmers and boats, where kids can skip stones and turn over stones looking for crabs.

Lots of places have great public walking paths because decades ago citizens set aside such land. I guess we thought that benevolent owners would always let us have access. Since this is no longer true, future generations will appreciate a yes vote so they can enjoy the lake. Anne C. Green Hammondsport
