Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 173 meets every second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Wescott Post on William Streeet in Bath.

SPCA donations

The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on State Route 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA.

Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities. For further information, call 776-3039. Communication problems?

The Center for Dispute Settlement is offering a free service to Steuben County residents to help with communication skills. The service is for residents under the age of 21. Services are confidential and a neutral person is available to help individuals.

The Hammondsport American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0407 will meet at 2 p.m. of the first Sunday every month at The Hammondsport American Legion, Rt. 54. KLP launches Annual Membership Drive

Keuka Lake Players has revamped their membership benefits for the 2007 season. Members joining KLP at the basic level will get the monthly E-newsletter, an invitation to the Annual Dinner, discounts on tickets for the three show season, preferred seating and free admission to in-house theater craft workshops. Dues are $10 for basic individual or $25 for basic family membership which includes all immediate family members.

Keuka Lake Players is a community based voluntary organization, dedicated to preserving, encouraging and teaching live theater in West Central New York by providing opportunities for the public to see learn about and take part in live theater. Students interested in the arts are encouraged with KLP granted scholarships. The organization also contributes to local community projects with talents and funding.

The Village of Bath Housing Authority Board will meet at 4 p.m. the forth Monday of every month (except where a Holiday occures, then it will be held the week before.) Dormann Library Board of Trustees

The 4th annual Billy Apenowich Memorial Kick Cancer Kickball Tournament will be held Sunday, June 3 at the Bath soccer complex. This is a fun filled all day event. Teams consist of 8-12 players, half adults and half under the age of 14.

The Dormann Library will hold a program for children under three and their parent/ caregiver. The program is held on Mondays from 10:30-11:00 a.m. until June 11. Songs, rhymes, and simple stories will be presented.

The preschool story hour is for ages three-five. The program will be on Wednesdays from 10:30- 11:30 a.m.until June 13. Each week has a special theme with stories, songs, games, and a craft.

Kindergarten registration for the 2007-2008 school year will be held at the Avoca Central School on the following dates:

+ From Noon to 6 p.m. April 23.

+ From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 24.

To register, parents will need to show a birth certificate proving that their child will be at least five years old by Dec. 1, 2007 and a current immunization record. Immunizations are required for public school attendance before entering.

St. James Episcopal Church in Hammondsport will hold their annual Mother's Day Smorgasbord Supper from 4-6:30 p.m. May 5. The cost is as follows: $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12 and free for children 3 years of age and younger. Take outs will be available. The menu will include roast beef, ham, chicken, and meatloaf with a variety of casseroles, fruit and assorted salads, vegetables, assorted breads, dessert and beverages. A complimentary glass of wine will be available for those that are 21 years of age and older. The event will be chaired by Nancy French. Victims of Domestic Violence Women's Support Group

Senior trips

A Bath Village/Town senior trip will be held on May 16 Belhurst Castle Fun Day. Sign ups will be held Monday, April 30 at 1 p.m. in the Board Room of the Village of Bath Municipal Building, 110 Liberty St., Bath. P-burgh Senior Citizens Club

The Prattsburgh Senior Citizens Club will meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month through Nov. 2007 in the Prattsburgh Methodist Church dining room, 4 Porter St. The meeting are open to all Prattsburgh seniors, ages 55 and over. Bring a dish to pass and your own table servie, enjoy the social time, special events, get to know your neighbors, meet new friends and reconnect with old friends. Wine Country Toastmasters will meet the first and third Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the County Health Care Facility, Co. Rte. 113, Bath. The meeting will discuss enhancing communication and leadership skills.

"To Have and to Hold," an exhibit of classic wedding gowns of yesteryear, presented by Lorraine Loomis- Konig, will be on display until June 17 at The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, 8419 State Route 54, Hammondsport. The museum is open daily from 10-4 until April 30. Beginning May 1, the museum will be open 9-5, Mon.-Sat., and 10-5 on Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 and older and $4 for students 7- 18. Children under six are free. Group rates sare 10 or more are available.
