Harold Mason Wood

HAMMONDSPORT - Harold Mason Wood, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, surrounded by his loving family at the Bath VAMC.

He was born June 5, 1930 in Elmira Heights to John and Isabelle Wood. Harold served in the United States Air Force. He worked at Taylor Wine Co. for 25 years. Upon retiring he drove for A.U.T.O.

Harold was an avid gun collector, enjoyed target shooting, reloading, singing karoake. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles for over 45 years. He enjoyed treasure hunting with the metal detectors. His favorite past time was going to diners visiting with the folks and spending good times with friends and family.

Harold was predeceased by his wife Ruth Beard Wood in 1995, mother and father Isabelle and John Wood, stepfather "Dutch" Hoffman, granddaughter Crystal Renee, brother James Wood and sister June Piper.

He is survived by four children Gary (Nancy) Wood of Derby, Kansas, Kathleen (Don) Putman of Bath, Randy (Karen) Wood of Payson, Arizona, and John (Theresa) Wood of Hammondsport. He has 12 grandchildren, Kristine (Gary) Sagerman, Chad Putman, Adrianne Wood, Robert (Diana) Wood, John Joseph (Christina) Wood, Kelly Wood, Crystal Renee Wood (D), Kari Wood, Bridget Flannery, Erin Flannery, Kyle Flannery and Dillon Flannery. He also had nine great grandchildren Justin, Zachary, Christopher, Rebecca, Connor, Braxton, Alyssa, Katrina and John Mason. Harold was from a family of ten, Doris Cecere, Shirley Cornish, Thelma Buckle and Wilma Crance, brother Frank Wood, Donald Wood, and Robert Wood, several nieces and nephews.

Friends called Wednesday April 25 at the Tyrone Methodist Church from 4-6 p.m. with his funeral service was heldimmediately following the calling hours at 6 p.m. Burial was held in Tyrone Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bond- Davis Funeral Home of Bath.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, or Schuyler County Meals on Wheels, or the charity of one's choice.
