Wightman Primary School May 7-15. Eligible students in the Bath Central School District must be 5 years old on or before December 1, 2007 to begin school this fall. Parents of eligible students are encouraged to call the school at 776-3301 ext. 5100 if you do not have an appointment for kindergarten registration. Teachers Recognition Day The Charles E. Wescott Unit #173, Bath American Legion Auxiliary wishes to thank all the teachers of the Primary School, Dana E. Lyons Elementary School, the Middle School and the Haverling High School for Teachers Recognition Day on May 8. They are proud to thank the teachers for their patience, dedication, support and expertise in teaching the children in our community. Women's Motorcycle Ride A Women's Motorcyle Ride for Pregnancy Resource Center of Loving Arms will be held at 10 a.m. May 12 starting at the K-Mart Parking Lot, Bath. Bikes and cars will travel to the Windmill in Penn Yan and ride back to the Center. Haverling requests parent feedback The Bath Central School District recently mailed a survey to all parents in the community. Parents are asked to fill out the surveys and return them in the postage paid envelope provided by May 18. Pburgh School Budget Reminder to Prattsburgh Central School residents that the 2007-2008 School Budget Public Presentation will be held at 7 p.m. May 7 in the school library/media center. Bath School misprint Two misprints were distributed via the District Calendar and the District Newsletter. Please be aware that May 18 will be a half day for all students for a Staff Development Day. The school apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. Campbell Lions Club The Campbell Lions Club has announced that the "Community Yard Sale Day" in the Town of Campbell will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 - rain or shine. Special events planned are: chicken BBQ by the Campbell Fire Dept. starting at 11 a.m. until Duck Race by the Campbell Lions Club, registration will start at 12 noon by the American Legion bridge with the duck launch at 2 p.m. For questions call Kathy Spear at 527-8798. Bath VA Walking Tours To demonstrate the pride of the Bath VA, the Bath VA Dietetic Staff will conduct walking tours of the grounds every Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. starting May 5 and ending on Sept. 29, 2007. Veterans, employees, and their families as well as the general public are welcome to join the tours and there is no cost to participate. For questions or for more information call Dietary Staff at 664-4717. 25th Annual Mother's Day Smorgasbord St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Bath is making plans for their 25th Annual Smorgasbord to be held May 12 on Mother's Day weekend. Barbara Fowler will be chairing this year's event. Every favorite casserole, salad, and desert of the men and women of the church will be prepared for the buffet. The Smorgasbord will be featuring ham and turkey along with meatballs, meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, assorted salads, rolls and homemade pies and cakes. Serving will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Take-outs will be available. Tickets will be on sale at the door and the cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under the age of twelve. Yard sale A yard sale will be held to support Athletes from the Genesee Express Training Club at 9 a.m. May 25 and 26 at 5 Mountainview Rd. E., Bath. Many items at low prices will be available. Proceeds to benefit the NYS Special Olymics. Disabled American Veterans meeting D i s a b l e d American Veterans, Kimble Kowalski Chapter7, will hold it's monthly meeting at 7 p.m. May 7 at the Bath VA Medical Center, 3rd Floor Conference Room. New members welcome. Current members are encouraged to attend. Movie Night The Dormann Library will host its Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. May 18. This month in celebration of racing season we will be watching "Herbie Fully Loaded." This movie is rated G. Everyone is invited to movie night and refreshments will be served. Improving driver safety The staff of the Caregiver Resource Center of the Steuben County Office for the Aging can help sort out issues and make suggestions for improving elderly driving safety. Legion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 173 meets every second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Wescott Post on William Streeet in Bath. SPCA donations The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on State Route 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA. Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities. For further information, call 776- 3039. Communication problems? The Center for Dispute Settlement is offering a free service to Steuben County residents to help with communication skills. The service is for residents under the age of 21. Village of Bath Housing Authority Board The Village of Bath Housing Authority Board will meet at 4 p.m. the forth Monday of every month (except where a Holiday occures, then it will be held the week before.) Northeast Elite The Northeast Elite, a competitive cheerleading and dance group, is now accepting new members for their third season for all ages. Tiny cheer for ages five and under, minnie cheer for ages eight and under, youth cheer/hip hop dance team for ages 11 and under, junior cheer/hip hop dance team for ages 14 and under, two senior cheer teams/hip hop dance team for ages 18 and under and collegiate open team for ages 18 and up. Cancer kickball tournament The 4th annual Billy Apenowich Memorial Kick Cancer Kickball Tournament will be held Sunday, June 3 at the Bath soccer complex. This is a fun filled all day event. Teams consist of 8-12 players, half adults and half under the age of 14. Spring story programs The Dormann Library will hold a program for children under three and their parent/ caregiver. The program is held on Mondays from 10:30- 11:00 a.m. until June 11. Songs, rhymes, and simple stories will be presented. The preschool story hour is for ages three-five. The program will be on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.until June 13. P-burgh Senior Citizens Club The Prattsburgh Senior Citizens Club will meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Thursday of every month through Nov. 2007 in the Prattsburgh Methodist Church dining room, 4 Porter St. The meeting are open to all Prattsburgh seniors, ages 55 and over. "To Have and to Hold" "To Have and to Hold," an exhibit of classic wedding gowns of yesteryear, presented by Lorraine Loomis-Konig, will be on display until June 17 at The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, 8419 State Route 54, Hammondsport. The museum is open daily from 10-4 until April 30. Beginning May 1, the museum will be open 9-5, Mon.- Sat., and 10-5 on Sunday. KLP launches Annual Membership Drive Keuka Lake Players has revamped their membership benefits for the 2007 season. Members joining KLP at the basic level will get the monthly E-newsletter, an invitation to the Annual Dinner, discounts on tickets for the three show season, preferred seating and free admission to in-house theater craft workshops. Dues are $10 for basic individual or $25 for basic family membership which includes all immediate family members. Keuka Lake Players is a community based voluntary organization, dedicated to preserving, encouraging and teaching live theater in West Central New York by providing opportunities for the public to see learn about and take part in live theater. Students interested in the arts are encouraged with KLP granted scholarships. The organization also contributes to local community projects with talents and funding.
