Gladys M. Wolcott

GANG MILLS - Gladys M. Wolcott, 98, died Tuesday, April 17 at the Waters of Three Rivers in Gang Mills.

She was born Feb. 24, 1909, the daughter of the late Edward L. and Nancy E. (Davis) Parshall of Elmira Heights. Gladys and Frederick Wolcott were married on June 2, 1931 at the bride's home. Fred predeceased her on April 22, 1995 at age 88. They had lived at 21 Caton Rd. in South Corning for over 50 years.

She graduated from Elmira Heights High School. She dedicated her life to raising her family and taking care of her home. She did work later for "The Leader" and the Visiting Nurse's Association. Gladys was a member of the South Corning United Methodist Church, Senior Citizens and Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by daughters, Joyce (Richard L.) Miller of Vestal and Judy Stasch in the Saratoga Springs Nursing Home, and a son, the Rev. J. David Wolcott (Ann) of Bath: ten grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Saturday, May 12 from 2-3 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 p.m. The Rev. Melanie Beardslee, formerly at the South Corning Church, will officiate. A private interment was held in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats.
