Kidder dominates for Avoca JASPER - No kidding, Brian Kidder went 4-for-4 at the plate and helped account for 11 of the Avoca baseball team's 16 runs Monday in a 16-1 victory over Jasper- Troupsburg. And as if that wasn't enough, Kidder earned the win on the mound to help the defending Class D state champion Tigers improve to 7-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Steuben County Athletic Association. "Brian had an awesome game," Avoca coach Aaron Mullen said. "He had a part in 11 runs and I don't think I've ever seen that before." Kidder could seemingly do no wrong, whether it was with his bat or arm. Kidder's 4- for-4 day included a triple and a double, falling just a home run short of the cycle. In addition, Kidder scored five runs and picked up six RBIs and was one of two Tigers to knock in six runs. On the mound, Kidder fanned eight, walked four and gave up just one hit in six innings of work to earn the win. On most days, Avoca teammate Joe Wallace would have owned the headlines, as he delivered an effort similar to Kidder, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs. A total of just four Avoca players accounted for all 16 of the team's RBIs. Aside from Kidder and Wallace's combined 12 RBIs, Tony Galvan and Matt Rodbourn each drove in two runs. Rodbourn doubled and went 2-for-3, while Galvan put together a 2-for-5 effort at the plate. |
