Voters approve school budgets, Dormann tax levy BATH - Bath voters Tuesday approved a $29.1 million budget that will increase the district tax levy by 4.8 percent. Voters also approved a $20,000 in crease in the tax levy for the Dormann Library. Separately, voters elected L. Jay Dickson and Todd Martin to five-year terms on the school board. Dickson, who was running unopposed, garnered 667 votes, while Martin beat former Bath town Supervisor Ron Deming, 715-232. The newly approved budget for the 2007-08 fiscal year passed by a vote of 639-295, according to Roger Parulski, business manager for the school district. The increased tax levy will establish a tax rate of $16.99 per $1,000 of market value. A property with a market value of $70,000 will yield annual taxes of $1,189. Parulski estimated the Dormann Library budget would in crease district residents' contribution to the library by about four cents per $1,000 of property market value. The Dormann tax levy rose from $150,000 to $170,000. Library Director Carol Berry said the higher revenue would pay for the cost of increased library hours and personnel. Haverling district residents also approved a proposition authorizing the purchase of three buses at a cost not to exceed $240,000. In Hammondsport, voters approved the district's $11.5 million budget, 279 to 92 and elected Rick Drain to a fivieyear seat on the school board with 319 votes.
