Panthers' softball tops Holley, 13-1
Brooke Knowles, Amanda Mehlenbacher, and Taryn Taft all knocked in two runs, while Lindsey Drake had a triple and also picked up an RBI.

LETCHWORTH - The Campbell-Savona softball team opened up its sectional tournament much like this year's boys basketball team - with a rout of No. 11 Holley.

The Panthers scored in every inning to pick up the 13-1 victory in the Section V, Class CCC first round.

Campbell-Savona scored four runs in the first inning to start the game off with a bang.

With two outs in the opening frame, Brittani Knowles and Kara Carapella each picked up singles to ignite the Panthers' offense. The inning continued after three consecutive Holley errors, and Taryn Taft's RBI single made it 4-0. Campbell-Savona went on to score multiple runs in three more innings, but the early lead was more than enough for the tandem of Cici Failing and Sarah Warner.

Failing threw the first five innings, fanning nine along the way to her fifth win on the year. Warner came in to wrap things up and struck out three in two innings of work.

Along with the 12 combined strikeouts, the pair allowed only three hits in the contest, and retired the Hawks in order in four of the seven innings.
