The blotter Assault Steuben County Sheriff's deputies last week charged Gregory Alan Barnes, 39, of E. William St. Ext., Bath, with third-degree assault following a domestic violence complaint. Barnes allegedly injured an unidentified live-in companion in the Town of Wayland during the weekend of May 5. He was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in Wayland town court. Unlicensed operation Deputies last week charged David A. Robbins, 39, of North Main St., Avoca, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident following a wreck on county Route 105. Robbins allegedly was driving at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his vehicle, which crashed through a street sign and landed in a pasture, where it became stuck. Robbins is to appear at a later date in Avoca court DWI Deputies last week charged Timothy C. H. Warner, 26, of Avoca with aggravated driving while intoxicated and moving from a lane unsafely following a traffic stop in the Town of Hornellsville. He is to appear at a later date in Hornellsville town court. Weapon Maxine S. M. Smith, 32, of 8627 Taggart Lane, Avoca, was charged last week with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after deputies at the Steuben County Office Building allegedly detected a switchblade in her purse. She was given an appearance ticket for a later date in Bath village court. Sex offender Bath village police last week arrested Timothy Scott DeWolf, 29, a level 3 sex offender, for allegedly failing to notify police of a change of address. He was committed to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash/$4,000 property bond and is to appear in Bath village court at a later date. Police say they determined DeWolf had been residing at 115 Pine St., in Bath since May 13, 2007. Further investigation indicated DeWolf had been arrested on May 3 for the same offense by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. He had been living in Rome, N.Y. Fire Two unidentified Bath town residents were treated for smoke inhalation at Ira Davenport Hospital following a fire in a trailer. Bath volunteer fire fighters were called the fire on county Route 14 at 9:48 p.m. May 27, finding smoke coming from the rear of the trailer. The fire was stopped around the hot water tank area, with the structure sustaining smoke damage. The home is owned by Edward Young of Bath; residents were Hope Palmer and her four children.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene, along with support from the Kanona fire department. The Red Cross was asked to assist the family. |
