Legion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 173 meets every second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Wescott Post on William St., Bath. SPCA donations The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on St. Rte. 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA. Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities. For further information call 776-3039. Communication problems? The Center for Dispute Settlement is offering a free service to Steuben County residents to help with communication skills. The service is for residents under the age of 21. H-port American Legion meetings The Hammondsport American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0407 will meet at 2 p.m. of the first Sunday every month at the Hammondsport American Legion, Rt. 54. Recital and ice cream social The Bath Band Boosters will hold a Bath "Teachers with Talent" Recital and Ice Cream Social at 7 p.m. June 14 at the Haverling High School auditorium. Come and listen to Bath Music Teachers perform. Tickets in advance can be purchased at the high school office and Deb's Books and Things on Liberty St. The cost of tickets purchased in advance is $5 for adults, students and senior citizens for $3 and children ages 5 and under are free. Tickets at the door will be $7 for adults, $5 for student and senior citizens and children under 5 for free. All proceeds will support the Bath Instrumental students. Village of Bath Housing Authority Board The Village of Bath Housing Authority Board will meet at 4 p.m. the forth Monday of every month (except where a Holiday occurs, then it will be held the week before.) Dormann Library Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees of the Dormann Library will hold their next monthly meeting at 5 p.m. June 11 in the Empire Room of the Library Building, 101 W. Spring story programs The Dormann Library will hold a program for children under three and their parent/caregiver. The program is held on Mondays from 10:30-11 a.m. until June 11. Songs, rhymes, and simple stories will be presented. The preschool story hour is for ages three to five. The program will be held on Wednesdays from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. until June 13. "To Have and to Hold" "To Have and to Hold," an exhibit of classic wedding gowns of yesteryear, presented by Lorraine Loomis- Konig, will be on display until June 17 at The Glenn H. Bird walk and breakfast Peter Robbins will present the Geology of the Bath and Hammondsport area at 10:30 a.m. June 16 at Mossy Bank Nature Center. Discover how this beautiful area was formed. Bath VA Walking Tours To demonstrate the pride of the Bath VA, the Bath VA Dietetic Staff will conduct walking tours of the grounds every Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. until Sept. 29, 2007. Veterans, employees, and their families as well as the general public are welcome to join the tours and there is not cost to participate. Senior trips A Bath Village/Town senior trip will be held on August 8 to a luncheon cruise on Skaneatelas Lake and Thoroughly Modern Mille at the Merry Go Round Theater, Auburn. Wine Country Toastmasters Wine Country Toastmasters will beet the first and third Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the County Health Care Facility, Co. Rte. 113, Bath. Cohocton Bible School The Cochocton Assembly of God will hold a vacation bible school, Avalanche Ranch, a wild ride through God's word, from 6-8 p.m. June 25 and 29 at 31 N. Bath commencement ceremony The commencement ceremony for the Haverling High School Class of 2007 will be held at 11 a.m. June 23 in the High School gymnasium. Graduates will receive eight to ten tickets for admission to the ceremony. Guests without a ticket may watch the ceremony via a live feed in the auditorium. Haverling Alumni Banquet The Annual Haverling Alumni Banquet will be held on June 22 at the VFW, Rte. 54, Bath. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., $17 per person. Speaker of the evening will be Luther Hoffman, former Haverling band director. Book buddy Teenagers between the ages of 7-12 can consider being a book buddy this summer at the Dormann Library. Book buddy volunteers will assist with the summer reading club, summer programs, informal read aloud sessions, book displays, shelving books, shelf reading, etc. Each book buddy will work a minimum of 3 weeks, 2-3 hours per day, 1-2 days a week. We will work around a volunteer's schedule. The summer program "Get a Clue @ Your Library" will run from June 26- August 17. Recruitment, interviews and the selection process will take place May 30-June 12. Training night will be Tuesday, June 19 at 5 p.m. with pizza and soda. The Magee House, located at the Dormann-Davenport Learning Complex, West Morris St. in Bath, will be open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during July and August. Personnel will be on hand to staff the site and offer guided tours to visitors. Single Adult Fellowship dance Single Adult Fellowship will present a dance at 7:30 p.m. June 16 featuring live music by Kaye Band at the First Presbyterian Methodist Church, Painted Post. The dance is open to all divorced, widowed, separated or never married. Must be 21 years of age to attend. Savona Library meeting The Savona Free Library Board of Trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 12 in the library. Kids Funday Sunday is Kids Funday on June 10 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Hornell. The day's festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with a Kids Centered worship service. During the service there will be exciting stories, Shilee the Clown, Pastor's (Dummy) Buddy, games, and prizes. Following the service will be a fre hot dog lunch and trimmings, lawn games and indoor games. The event is open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend also.
