The blotter Assault Steuben County Sheriff's deputies on June 14 charged Kathleen G. Burns, 48, of Penn Yan with third-degree assault after a domestic incident on West Lake Road in the Town of Pulteney. Deputies say they arrived at the residence at 5 a.m. and found Burns being restrained by her husband, Bernard J. Burns of West Lake Road. Mrs. Burns allegedly entered the residence through a bedroom window and assaulted her husband and Betsy A. Welles, 48, of Penn Yan. Pulteney ambulance personnel treated all three for injuries, and transported Mrs. Burns to Ira Davenport Hospital for further treatment. She is to appear at a later date in Pulteney town court. Deputies laer charged Mr. burns with driving while intoxicated with a bloodalcohol level greater than 08 percent. DMV violation Sheriff's deputies last week arrested Derek R. Clark, 20, of Bath following a report of a suspicious vehicle driving on the grass of the Haverling school district campus. Clark was found on state Route 54 in the Town of Bath, An investigation revealed he had four suspensions for failure to appear in court. He was charged with failure to notify the Division of Motor Vehicles of an address change and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was arraigned and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail. Rape Deputies last week arrested Justin M. Nichols, 20, of May Street, Bath, on a charge of first-degree rape after a 911 call reported an assault and possible rape on county Route 1 in the Town of Campbell. Campbell was remanded to the county jail on no bail, incident continues. The Steuben County District Attorney's Office, state police and Corning Hospital Emergency Room staff assisted deputies in the investigation. DWI Deputies last week charged Kristin L. Morse, 17, of Campbell with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 percent after an investigation of a motor vehicle accident on Center Street in Campbell. Morse also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, unsafe backing, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and unauthorized She is to appear at a later date in Campbell town court. DWI Deputies last week charged Steven Fedash, 49, of county Route 74, Urbana, with driving while intoxicated. He is to appear at a later date in court. Assault Bath village police last week arrested Joshua D. Bailey, 17, of 6507 state Route 415, Bath on a charge of second-degree assault. Police tried to arrest Bailey at his residence when he took off on foot. State police and Sheriff's deputies assisted in the ensuing chase, eventually capturing the defendant. Bailey allegedly broke another man's jaw. He was arraigned in village court and remanded to the county jail on $5,000 cash bail or a $10,000 property bond. In a related matter, Phyllis Bailey, 46, of the same address was charged with third-degree hindering prosecution and endangering the welfare of a child. Mrs. Bailey allegedly allowed her son, Joshua, to reside t her residence after being told he ws wanted for felonious assault.
