Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 173 meets every second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Wescott Post on William St., Bath.

SPCA donations

The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on St. Rte. 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA.

Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities.

Communication problems?

The Center for Dispute Settlement is offering a free service to Steuben County residents to help with communication skills. The service is for residents under the age of 21. Services are confidential and a neutral person is available to help individuals.

Village of Bath Housing Authority Board

The Village of Bath Housing Authority Board will meet at 4 p.m. the forth Monday of every month (except where a Holiday occurs, then it will be held the week before.)

Dormann Library Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of the Dormann Library will hold their next monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Empire Room of the Library Building, 101 W. Morris St., Bath.

Senior trips

A Bath Village/Town senior trip will be held on August 8 to a luncheon cruise on Skaneatelas Lake and Thoroughly Modern Mille at the Merry Go Round Theater, Auburn. Sign ups will be held Monday, July 25 30 at 1 p.m. in the Board Room of the Village of Bath Municipal Building, 110 Liberty St., Bath.

Wine Country Toastmasters

Wine Country Toastmasters will beet the first and third Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the County Health Care Facility, Co. Rte. 113, Bath. The meeting will discuss enhancing communication and leadership skills.

Anne Keddy and Dr. Randy Weidner will present Wildflowers of the Finger Lakes at 10:30 a.m. July 14 at Mossy Bank Nature Center.

Bath VA Walking Tours

To demonstrate the pride of the Bath VA, the Bath VA Dietetic Staff will conduct walking tours of the grounds every Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. until Sept. 29, 2007.

Veterans, employees, and their families as well as the general public are welcome to join the tours and there is not cost to participate.

Steuben County Historical Society

The Steuben County Historical Society announces the following summer hours. The Magee House, located at the Dormann-Davenport Learning Complex, West Morris St. in Bath, will be open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during July and August. Personnel will be on hand to staff the site and offer guided tours to visitors.

Annual COPE Picnic 2007

"Building Capacity for Action," Rochester Labor Council, AFL-CIO will hold their Annual COPE Picnic from 5-7 p.m. July 12 at Genesee Roundhouse, Genesee Valley Park.

Special guest is Colleen Gardner, Executive Assistant for Labor Affairs, NYS Department of Labor; and, former New York State AFL-CIO Organizing and Community Services Director.

Play Like a Pro

Play Like a Pro returns to the Bath Little League for the third straight year featuring Baseball Camp focusing on techniques of hitting and pitching. The camps will be held on Monday, July 2 and Tuesday July 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Bath Little League Complex in maple Heights. Cost is $35 per session for boys and girls of ages 5-13.

Space is limited to provide quality instruction. The camp is conducted by Matt Perry former Elmira Pioneer and Chicago Cubs pitcher, featuring Mansfield University Baseball Coach Harry Hillson and his staff.

Dormann Library events

Come and "Get a Clue" at the Dormann Library in Bath. This summer at the Dormann Library will be a place for mysteries, spies, codes, and secrets. The following programs will be held.

+ For Tuesday, July 3: From 10:30-11:30 a.m. Preschool Story Hour for ages 3-5 "Digging Up Dinosaurs" stories songs, and a craft. From 10:30- 11:30 there will aslo be Summer Seekers for kids who have completed K through grade 5, "Mysteries of Ancient Egypt" with stories and a craft.

+ For Thursday, July 5: From 1:30-2:30 p.m., Dormann Readers for ages 8 and up - This is a readers' theater group. They will be practicing two plays for a later performance.

+ For Friday, July 6: From 10:30-11 a.m., Cuddle Up for children under 3 and parent/caregiver. Several of songs, rhymes, and some short stories will be held. From 1:30-2:30 p.m., Friday Fun Day for all ages. "Take the Mystery Out of Good Eating" with Cornell Cooperative Extension and Chef John. Food samples, games and fun.

Seeking new farmers

The Cornell University Cooperative Extension is looking for new farmers who wish to be included in the 2007 edition of the Steuben County Guide to Agricultural Products. The Guide presently lists over 50 local farms with agricultural products for sale within the Steuben County. Applications will be considered from farms where at least 50% of the products sold are homegrown. To apply, pick up an application at the Cornell University Cooperative Extension office, 3 E. The following entertainment is scheduled for July at The Windmill south of Penn Yan on Rt. 14A. VA Healthcare Nework Upstate New York will be updating all veterans' records during the upcoming months. The VA may contact veterans to verify or update their address; phone number; insurance information, including identification numbre; and other information. VA will not ask for Social Security numbers, as that is already on file.

An individual from the VA Veterans Contact Center will call and identify himself or herself as a VA employee. If veterans prefer, they can also update their information on their next vist.

School Supply Drive

Catholic Charities Turing Point in conjunction with Americorps and Centenary United Methodist Church are in the process of organizing their 2007 school supply drive for Bath area residents. Distribution date is August 24.

Catholic Charities are asking for donations between $50 and $500. 100% of the donation goes directly to the purchase of school supplies. Please make the check payable to Catholic Charities Turning Point with 2007 School Supply Drive in the memo.

First Presbyterian Church will hold Sanctuary tours

The sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Bath on Pulteney Square will be open to visitors on Wednesdays, July 11, 18, 25 and August 1, 8, and 15 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tour guides will be on hand to help visitors observe the impressive work of Louis Confort Tiffany who created the sancutary's interior design ca 1895-7.

Haverling meetings

The reorganizationl and regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Bath Central School District will be held on July 11 at the District Office. The reorganizational meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Following the reorganizational meeting the regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held.
