Sidney Price Rodunce

PRESCOTT VALLEY, ARIZONA - Sidney Price Rodunce, 85, formerly of Avoca, passed away in his Prescott Valley, Arizona home on June 26, 2007. He was born Sidney Robinson Price, Nov. 19, 1921, in Dundee to Fred and Jennie Robinson Price. Charles and Louise Rodunce of Naples adopted him, in 1924 following the death of his mother, Jennie. He graduated from Naples High School in 1939. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army serving for the duration of WWII in the Medical Corps.

After their discharges from the Army in 1946, he married Thealeize Allton; she preceded him in death in 1978. He worked for the Veteran's Administration hospital in Bath from 1947 until transferring to Fargo, North Dakota, in 1963. While living in Avoca he was active in the PTA, Masonic Lodge and the Grange; he was also a member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association and the Federal Employees Federation. He was a lay minister for the United Methodist Church filling in as needed in the area. He made many trips back to the area keeping in touch with friends and relatives until his health became an issue in 1999. He married Arlene Mariam in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1989. Sidney is survived by his wife; his daughter, Darlajean Harlow, Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Canada; two granddaughters, Sharon Schmidt and Betty Homme of Fargo, North Dakota; and a greatgrandson, Christopher Bolen of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Six stepchildren, and many children and grandchildren of theirs survive him. His sister, Phyllis (Arthur) Alderman, Hammondsport also survives him. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca (Harry, Jr.) Platt and bother, Robert Schanbacher. Burial was at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his first wife, Thealeize. Any memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
