United Way should be commended
To the Editor,

On Thursday, June 7, 2007 Bath Area Hope for Youth an agency of Catholic Charities Steuben participated in the United Way Day of Caring. The United Way of the Southern Tier should be commended for coordinating this annual event, as it has such a positive effect on the agencies that participate. This day is an opportunity for agencies that receive funding from the United Way to have volunteers come to their agency to help do work projects. The work project can be anything from painting, planting flowers, moving offices to sealing driveways. These teams of volunteers come from businesses and organizations that have participated in the United Way Annual Campaign drive.

Our agency was very fortunate to have a team from Five Star Bank here in Bath spend the day with us working on outdoor projects that include trimming bushes and cleaning the outside of our building and sealing our driveway. With their help we were able to complete much need projects that have enhanced the outward appearance of our facility. These folks brought a very positive attitude and high level of energy to our agency that day. And provided us with an opportunity to spend time with members of the community and talk about what we do as an agency.

It was a wonderful experience and one we are looking forward to participating in again next year.
