Wal-Mart would improve Bath economy
To the Editor,

We are no longer permanent residents of Bath but are graduates of Haverling and have spent 60 plus summers at our cottage on Keuka Lake. We are in hearty agreement with the letters from Pat Eaton and Melinda VanCise. They stated the case wisely and with true feeling for the town of Bath. Over the years we have lived all over the country and found the addition of a Walmart to a community improves the growth of the area. Bath does need something more than Dollar Stores and gift shops. Walmart will add jobs for the young people. That may influence them to stay here to work because it will give them an opportunity for a steady job with good pay and also will give them shares in the company's stock.

Out daughter-in-law has worked at Walmart for over twenty years, starting as a young clerk. Now she makes more than the manager and has good stock holdings.

The good people of Bath should not have to drive to Big Flats, Corning, or Canandaigua to buy the items they need. In the winter months that must be difficult for the older citizens.

I trust the Town Supervisor will have the best interests of the citizens at heart when the decision is made.
