The blotter Burglary A Bath village resident was arrested after a background check revealed he was wanted on a burglary charge in Camden County, N.J. Rasheen P. Townsend, 29, was taken into custody after he gave Bath village police a signed criminal background check authorization, which was required for him to obtain housing through the Tri County Housing Council. The subsequent background check through the National Crime Information Center revealed the outstanding charge. Townsend was to be transferred to the Steuben County Jail for processing. Criminal impersonation Bath village police last week arrested Lashunda S. Robertson, 21, of Rochester on a charge of second-degree criminal impersonation. Robertson allegedly gave police a false name to avoid being charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. She was arraigned in village court and remanded to the county jail on $2,000 cash bail or a $4,000 property bond. DWI Steuben County Sheriff's deputies last week charged Julie A. Finney, 29, of Avoca with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and speeding after stopping her on Geneva Street in the Village of Bath. She is to appear at a later date in Bath village court. Criminal possession A Steuben County grand jury last week indicted Terry E. Cage, 48, of 25 W. William St., Bath, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing cocaine on Feb. 26 in the Village of Bath with the intent to sell it. Grand larceny The grand jury last week indicted Michael K. Jackson, 36, of 8561 Main St., Campbell, with third-degree grand larceny for allegedly stealing timber in the Town of Troupsburg with a value exceeding $3,000. Unsafe driving A Corning man was charged with unsafe lane change after his vehicle overturned off Interstate 390 in the Town of Avoca. Robert Baker, 22, was southbound on the interstate when his vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the highway. It traveled about 100 yards along the embankment, then overturned and landed on its roof. A passenger identified as Stephanie Pierce of Corning was transported to Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath for treatment of injuries. Baker is to appear at a later date in Avoca town court. Assault The grand jury indicted Cristapher Zeltwanger, 17, of county Route 105 Avoca, with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly assaulting an employee of the Avoca school district and damaging property. |
