Pulteney man pleads guilty in sex case

BATH - A 33-year-old Pulteney man pleaded guilty Tuesday, July 10, in Steuben County Court to sexual conduct against a child.

Northrop admitted having sexual relations with a girl under the age of 17 on more than one occasion.

Brian J. Northrop pleaded guilty to the crime just before his trial was scheduled to begin. Jury selection was slated for Tuesday morning.

He faced a seven-count indictment, including five felonies, had he gone to trial.

The charge of sexual conduct against a child is a class B felony, according to the indictment. Class B felonies are punishable by up to 25 years in state prison.

Sentencing was scheduled for Sept. 17. Northrop was jailed to await sentencing.
