HAMMONDSPORT HAPPENINGS

• The Keuka Lake Association 2007 Annual Meeting was held at 9 a.m., July 14, at the Hammondsport High School Auditorium. Refreshments were served starting at 8:15 a.m. At this meeting nine persons were named directors for a term of two years; Barrington: Bebette Yunis; Jerusalem: Marsha Senges; Pulteney: Sandra Pietropaoli; Wayne: Bill Feinstein and Dave deCalesta. All but Ms. Pietropaoli were re-elected. At large: Trafford Doherty, Mike Doyle and John Webster, also re-elected.

Ms. Pietropaoli lives in Pittsford, NY with her husband Dr. John Pietropaoli. She is a graduate of the Genessee Hospital Nursing School and has worked as a nurse over the years at the Lahey Clinic as well as at her husband's medical office. They raised six children and now have thirteen grandchildren. Her hobbies are quilting, cooking, gardening, family and friends. They are long time supporters of the Keuka Lake Association and spend their summers at their cottage in Pulteney. The meeting also transacted such other business that comes before such a meeting. The meeting was presided over by President Bob Worden, by the Order of the Board of Directors (more news later).

• The biggest Hammondsport Blood Drive ever was put together by the American Red Cross on July 19th at the Hammondsport Fire Department on Route 54. It involved food from area businesses, raffles, free Tshirts, WENY-TV and WVIN. Promotion and support from several community-service groups and churches help make this a successful and enjoyable event. Usually only 4% of the eligible public donates blood! Many thanks to those who donated on July 19th.

• The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) had another great year and they wish to thank all who helped make it such a success! Kim Sprague, President, says they are always looking for help so call her at 569-3646 if you'd like to assist in the 2007-8 year. In the past school year, here is part of a list of projects they did! A Hands-On Science Night, the annual Reading Festival, children's games at Homecoming, and two Family Movie Nights were all free-ofcharge events! In addition to events, PTO is often called upon to provide rewards or receptions for school celebrations like balloons at Kindergarten registration, a cookie reception after the winter concert and ice cream and trophies for the elementary perfect attendance student celebration. As part of the reading incentive program, the PTO provided each student in grades K-6 with a book. Every fifth grader received a t-shirt purchased by the PTO upon completing the D.A.R.E. program. A sixth grade graduation reception, National Honor Society reception, snacks for Teacher Appreciation Day, etc. were all works of this dedicated group. Of course they had to have fund raisers to do all this. Some of them included snack sales during Family Movies, Best Seat in the House raffle, a Halloween dance, sock hop, open house dinner, etc. Just remember, they could use your help.
