Finger Lakes SPCA to go mobile

BATH - The Finger Lakes SPCA will begin using a mobile spay/neuter clinic as a result of the donation of a recreational vehicle trailer to the organization.

The organization currently operates a spay/neuter program (Project Catnip) in a stationary clinic in Bath. "A road-worthy trailer and more expansive unit were required to make these vital subsidized feline spay/neuter services more accessible and visible in our community," said Director Vicki Mosgrove.

The trailer will be retro-fitted by volunteers into a surgery suite in the upcoming months. Plans are in the works for more expansive scheduling and visits by the mobile unit to other towns in Steuben County.

The vehicle was donated by Wilkins Recreational Vehicle Inc of Bath.

Currently, there are continuous and immediate openings in the surgery schedule for male cats throughout the year, and the neuter surgery with a rabies vaccine can be obtained for only $30.

There is some waiting time for female cats through this program, but those who have no immediate options for spaying and need assistance should contact the SPCA for future scheduling and alternative assistance information. The spay surgery with a rabies vaccine can be obtained for $50.

In the case of multiple cats or situations whereby these fees are considered a hardship, the surgery may be made available at a reduced rate or free thanks to the kindness of a donor. The program is by appointment only. Interested parties should call today -776-3039.

Upcoming Catnip Dates:

July 28th & 29th
September 8th & 9th
October 6th & 7th
