Richard Claire "Dick" Miller
He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in Grand Island as a Staff Sergeant. He married Marjorie Ruth Scott, June 7, 1945. In 1946, he moved to Nebraska to work as supervisor at the Elgin National Watch Company for 11 years. He retired from Sartor Hamann Jewelry in 1985. He began learning to fly in Hammondsport at age 17. He renewed his pilot's license at age 67 and enjoyed flying his Cessna tail-dragger until age 82. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, St. Paul Seniors, American Legion Post #3, Moose Lodge #175, Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #569, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association. Survivors include his children and spouses Gary and Linda Miller of Denver, Barbara and John Cutler of Lincoln, Ronald and Ann Miller of Lincoln and David and Cathie Miller also of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; nephew, Robert Miller of Naples and companion Lois M. Reed of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his parents and brother George. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 14, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 M Street, Lincoln Burial, Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1-6 .p.m Friday, July 13, at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln. One hour before services at the church.
