Choice between war and eradicating disease
To the Editor,

That which I said to Senator Kerry in my letter of 2004 still stands, only much worse. The United States has given little to the World Health Organization since that time. As Dr. Wendy Johnson said, disease is a silent killer around the world. Whereas Star Wars makes a lot of noise, I know that we spent at least a trillion dollars on Star Wars without success, the last I heard. But do we want war, or do we want to eradicate disease? I say let's bring our troops home from Iraq. Or do we leave them there to be slaughtered? It's up to you. As far as Social Security is concerned, my wife and I are taxed for everything over $32,000 per year. We pay taxes on every cent earned from interest in our savings account. Yet if I am correct, the Federal Government taxes all income up to $100,000 per year for Social Security. Why not tax all income, even those over $100,000? If we did so, there would be no deficit in Social Security. As far as global warming is concerned, I set out in my letter of January 30, 2007 what we should do, except I wish to add if we need more energy, let's get it from the sun. Also I would suggest that we make a law to discontinue all auto races in this county. How can we continue them when we are trying to lower the greenhouse gases from autos?
