HAMMONDSPORT - Hammondsport Central School has recently been recognized as a Title I School of Excellence by the Board of Regents and the New York State Education Department. Only 272 schools throughout New York State were recognized for this honor.
In a letter from Commissioner of Education Richard P. Mills, the school district was congratulated for meeting all applicable standards for English language arts and math during the 2005-2006 school year. In addition, the district was recognized for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts, mathematics, science, and graduation rate during the 2004-2005 and 2005- 2006 school years.
Superintendent Christopher Brown said he is hopeful this accomplishment places the district one step closer to being recognized as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; the highest accolade available to NYS Public Schools.
