Lyon, Russell lead TRTC in Championships

PROVIDED TO THE COURIER ADVOCATE The winning 8 and under 400 relay team of Christen Wise (Avoca), John Lyons (Twin Rivers), Bryan Wakefield (Avoca), and Derick Bulkley (Avoca).
HORNELL-Harley Lyon and Megan Russell were triple winners for the Twin Rivers Track Club at the Southern Tier Track Associations summer league championship meet held in Hornell. It was also the TRTC's best performance of the summer collecting 29 first place medals and having each member place in every event they were entered in. Harley Lyon, competing in the boys 9-10 division, ran to victories in the 50 and 100 meter sprints, and teamed up with Joel Rosko, Meghan Costa and Megan Bouton to win the 11-12 boys 400 meter relay. Megan Russell, competing in the girls 13-14 division, won the 100 and 200 meter sprints and leaped to a victory in the long jump.

In the 8 and under boys division John Lyons teamed up with Derick Bulkley, Christen Wise and Bryan Wakefield, all from Avoca, to win the 400 meter relay. He also placed third in the 100 sprint and sixth in the 200 sprint. In the girls 9-10 division Brenna Lyons ran to first place in the 1500 meter run and placed second in the 100 sprint. Sarah Vonderchek ran to a second place finish in the 200 sprint and a fourth place finish in the 50 meter sprint.

PROVIDED TO THE COURIER ADVOCATE Carey Crooker (15-16) and Kathleen Thompson (Womens' Open), both from Twin Rivers compete in the 1500 run at the S.T.T.A. Championships. Both Crooker and Thompson won the age divisions.
In the 11-12 girls division Meghan Costa ran to a second place finish in the 100 meter sprint and a third place finish in the 50 meter sprint. Megan Bouton finished fourth in the 50 meter sprint and jumped to a second place finish in the high jump. Alexis Jones threw to a second place finish in the shot put and Ashley Russell won the high jump and took a pair os second places in the 400 and 800 meter runs. In the boys 11-12 division Joel Rosko won the 100 meter sprint and placed fourth in the high jump.

In the 15-16 division Carey Crooker ran away with a pair of victories in the 800 and 1500 meter runs. Megan Rosko threw to a first place finish in the shot put and ran to a second place in the 400 meter run. Sierra White leaped to a first place in the high jump and ran to a second place finish in the 100 meter sprint. Liz Kuehner jumped to second place in the long jump and finished third in the 100 meter sprint. Kuehner, White, Jones and Vondercheck later teamed up to win the 15- 16 girls 400 meter relay race.

In the womens' open division Kathleen Thompson rand to a first place finish in the 800 meter run and a third place finish in the 1500 meter run. In the mens' open division Brett Rosko placed second in the 800 run, third in the 1500 meter run and fifth in the 100 sprint. In the womens' sub-master division Regena Rosko threw to a first place in the discus and second place in the shot put. On the mens' side Kevin Rosko threw for a pair of victories winning the discus and the shot put. Regena and Kevin Rosko teamed up with son Brett and daughter Megan to run to a win in the sub-master 400 meter relay.
