H'port scout award Eagle badge

HAMMONDSPORT - Jesse Burlew, a Scout with Troop 18, Hammondsport was awarded the Eagle Scout Medal in a ceremony held at the Hammondsport Presbyterian Church on May 9, 2007.

For his service project, he made improvements to an existing campsite on the Finger Lakes Trial. A permanent firepit, plant and animal identification signs and information and an outhouse were added.

In a brief statement, Jesse thanked his family, friends, his Scout Leaders and Scouting organization representatives for their help and encouragement along the Eagle Trail.

He also credited scouting for its many opportunities for personal, physical and spiritual growth. Special recognition went to Scoutmaster Mike Sable who also received the mentor's pin.

Jesse plans to stay involved in Scouting in an adult leadership position.
