A great opportunity for Bath
To the Editor,

I am all for Wal-Mart coming to Bath. The following reasons are as follows:

1. It will lower taxes here in Bath.

2. It will put 350 people to work.

3. It will get those people off welfare

4. It will bring more business to Bath

What is there in Bath that brings in tourists? It is not downtown historic Bath because there are no more historic sites in downtown Bath.

What business is there downtown that Wal-Mart is going to hurt? The bars, restaurants.

Tell me where do you go for clothes, downtown? Where do you go for shoes, downtown? Where do you go for electronics, downtown? There is only one place and that is K-Mart.

Why do the people in Hammondsport have a say about what goes on in Bath? Well, they have more tourists than Bath, they have a lake, Keuka Maid Diner Boat and wineries. Did the people in Bath vote on their condos or park?

Those people who do not want Wal-Mart, I say to you: when taxes come due, I want you to pay mine, take a family that's on welfare into your home and support them. Let our graduates go to other states and work so our taxes can keep going up and up.

As for this lake water around the site of which is now Owl's Home, why wasn't it brought to the attention of the people before Owl's brought in their modular houses?

What Bath has is bars, restaurants, drug stores and dollar stores. This is a great opportunity for Bath.
