The blotter Burglary Village police last week charged Leonard B. Youngs Jr., no address provided, with third-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into Rumor's Bar at 42 Belfast St., in the village. Youngs allegedly stole an undetermined amount of U.S. currency. He was arraigned in village court and is to reappear in court at a later date. Welfare fraud Steuben County Sheriff's deputies working with the county's Department of Social Services last week charged Joseph Stefko and Marilyn Stefko, both 49, of Avoca, with one count each of third-degree welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. They allegedly received more than $5,600 in public assistance and food stamps that they were not entitled to. Both were arraigned and are to reappear at a later date in village court. Profanity Bath village police last week charged Mandy L. Scarborough, 28, of 413 Colton Ave., Newark, with disorderly conduct after officers on foot patrol observed her allegedly shouting profanity at another individual in the West Steuben Street area. She was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in village court. |
