I am not only the president of B.R.A.G.(Bath Residents Advocating Growth) but I also have been a member of this community for 29 years and why we and many Bath residents see reasons why Wal-Mart would be beneficial to them and this community and the main reason is economics. Whether it's for the consumer or for the community itself, it's a win/win situation .A large number of people already do business with Wal-Mart but it involves driving 40 miles and with the price of gas, it can and does get expensive. Wal-Mart offers a large selection of merchandise for more than a reasonable price which as of right now Bath has no such place. How many people who live out of Bath but work here would now spend their money at our Wal-Mart because of the convenience not having to drive 40 plus for them also. As far as the community as a whole, with the amount of area that is proposed for the super store...how much tax dollars does that generate for this community? Now we all realize that when you open up a new store your going to need some experienced people for some positions but that still leaves a large number of openings for our own community which helps social services. Bath over the years that I have lived here have seen businesses leave and never replaced....Bath is a beautiful community that I am proud to be part of but ...we have become stagnant and I think it's time for us to sprout our wings and grow.
