Meal cart positive, reassuring experience
To the Editor:

Last week, I had occasion to stop and buy a bite to eat from the new Franks on Franklin meal cart operated by Catholic Charities' Teen Center in Watkins Glen. I was in a hurry and thought this was a quick and easy option. What a delightful experience it turned out to be! I was very impressed with the service I received. The young woman who waited on me was not only efficient but pleasant and engaging as well. She quickly slipped on her gloves to insure food safety and then gathered together my order and made change. She told me a bit about the operation and wished me a good day as I left.

Having worked with youth for much of my career, I am always aware of opportunities and experiences that will help them grow and develop into responsible, productive adults. Franks on Franklin is clearly one of those opportunities. I commend both the young person and her supportive adult mentors for the great service she and they are providing to this community. Nurturing our young people is surely a sign of a community that cares.
