Morgan Wheat, a member of the Lady Bandits 12U traveling softball team, recently returned from Charlotte, North Carolina/Rock Hill, South Carolina after participating in the NSA Fastpitch Division "A" World Series. The Lady Bandits 12U team won the World Series Championship after competing in a week long series of games involving 80 of the best softball teams from the USA and Canada. Following its only loss Thursday evening to the Knoxville, Tennessee Lady Aces, the team needed to win six consecutive games in order to take the title. The Bandits came back to beat the USA Bombers from Alabama, 3-2 and 21-2 in the final two games. It is the first time in the 25 year history of the NSA World Series that a New York state team has won the championship.

Morgan is a Bath Haverling Middle School student entering 8th grade in the fall. She is the daughter of Charles and Cinda Wheat of Bath. This is Morgan's third year playing with the Lady Bandits. She plays third base or left field.
