Teen crashes car into Bath home
BY MARY PERHAM THE LEADER

BATH - A 15-year-old boy suffered minor injuries Thursday, August 2, night after he allegedly tried to escape state troopers in a stolen pickup truck.

State police in Bath said a trooper patrolling near state routes 54 and 54A in the town of Urbana around 9 p.m. noticed a north bound vehicle matching the description of a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck reported stolen earlier in the evening.

As the trooper turned to follow the suspected vehicle, the driver quickly accelerated and lost control of the truck on the wet pavement, state police reported.

The truck spun around and struck a tree in front of a residence at 8052 State Route 54. It traveled south across the driveway, spun around a second time and hit the residence, troopers said.

The driver was transported to Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Further investigation showed the youth was a run away from Glove House Juvenile Detention Facility, troopers said.

The facility is located on Mt. Washington Road, about a mile from where the theft allegedly took place, at 7470 State Route 54.

The driver's identity was with held because of possible youthful offender status.

He was charged with thirddegree grand larceny, seconddegree escape, fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of reckless endangerment.
