George D. Veley

HAMMONDSPORT - George D. Veley, 94, formerly of Mechanic Street, passed away Sunday, August 5, at the Bath VAMC.

He was born June 2, 1913 in Hammondsport, the son of William and Myrtie Parker Veley.

George was an Army Veteran of WWII, member of the Hammondsport Organ Society, member of the Vine City Senior Citizens, lifetime member of the Hammondsport Presbyterian church and a retiree Mercury Aircraft.

Surviving are his sons Deforest G. Veley of Hammondsport and Albany and Stephen (Lois) Veley of Dunedin, Florida. Five grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren.

Friends call Thursday, August 9, from noon until 2 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport, where a Masonic service was held Thursday at 2 p.m., followed by a religious service with Rev. Donald Peek officiated. Interment with full military honors was held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Hammondsport Presbyterian Church or the Urbana Masonic Lodge.
