It's time to put brakes on Bath's downhill slide
To the Editor,

In response to Michele Fahmy and the Bath NY group's latest allegations against Bath Town Supervisor Fred Muller and the full Bath Town Board regarding an Executive Session held July 9, 2007, to review Union negotiations. Muller is being accused of discussing other issues that concern her latest losing battle, Wal-Mart in Bath.

If the BNYG did their homework, they would realize that Executive sessions are for discussing personnel issues and concerns only. How can they accuse Mr. Muller of any other business unless they were in attendance at the July meeting?

The Bath area residents who are supporting a Wal-Mart store in Bath will support our Bath Town Board whom are trying to conduct meetings legally and with concern for all. I know you won't agree with or believe that, but you haven't been around Bath long enough to know different.

There are those of us that have been here for many years and with great sorrow witnessed Bath go downhill store after store, business by business and could do nothing about it. Many of these businesses were family owned, family members passed away and many younger family members were not interested in the business and left town to pursue other interests, leaving a "BLANK" on Liberty Street.

Please bear in mind that people of the greater Bath area want and need a Wal-Mart store and come "hell or high water," we will have a Wal- Mart store.
