BATH - Bath Ambulance Corp volunteer Charles Stitt was honored recently at the Red Cross Community Blood Drive, co-sponsored by the Bath volunteer ambulance company.
Forty-four years ago, when Stitt's wife, Delores, died of leukemia, he decided to do what could he to help others facing the pain of losing a loved one.
Twenty-two gallons of blood later, Stitt is still giving. He also has donated more than 25 years of volunteer service to the Bath Volunteer Ambulnace Corps and also has volunteered his time at Ira Davenport Hospital and the local Red Cross chapter.
In recognition of his efforts, he was resented with a decorative clock from the Red Cross with an inscription reading: "Your gift of time gave others time."
Stitt's daughter, Nancy Leach, and her children - Robin, Amy, Adam and Eric - visited the Bath area to donated blood during the event.
