'Night Out' reset for Aug. 24 BATH - Bath Police Chief David K. Rouse last week announced the Bath Neighborhood Watch Group has rescheduled its participation in the 24th Annual National Night Out, which originally was to be held on Tuesday, August 7 but was rained out. This event is being rescheduled for Friday, August 24, 2007 at 7 p.m. in Pulteney Park and is being called "Village Night Out." Rouse noted 18 members of the community showed up for the rainedout Night Out and requested it be rescheduled. The police chief asks residents and business owners to join the onehour event to show support for their community and the local efforts of law enforcement and Neighborhood Watch. Residents are requested to join community leaders, law enforcement, neighbors, friends and family in a community foot patrol of downtown Bath. Village Night Out is designed to: • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. |
