Katherine Wagner Mays
BATH - Katherine Wagner Mays died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the Corning Hospital.

She was born May 18, 1922 in Milport, the daughter of Earl and Fanny Sinsebox Wagner. She was devoted to her husband of 57 years, Donald May, who preceded her in death in 2002. They owned Carpenters Floor Coverings in Bath for more than 30 years. She graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1939 and from the Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in 1943. During WWII, she served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. She also worked in several hospitals and retired from the Steuben County Public Health Nursing Service in 1985.

She is survived by her children, Margery Monroy of Otis, Maine, and David Mays of Cape Coral, Florida; Grandchildren, James (Demi) Sandford of Bow, New Hampshire, Stephanie (Jeff) Colby of Tiverton, Rhode Island, Ted (Kaori) Sanford of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Elizabeth (Tim) Davis of Caledonia, Blaine Mays of Ft . Lauderdale, Florida; Greatgrandchildren, Alexsandra and Matthew Sanford, Eleanor Sanford, Charlotte and Clavin Colby; and a sister, Betty Reagan of Naples, Florida.

She was predeceased by her sister, J eanette Reigelsperger in January 2007.

She was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church of Bath and the Order of the Eastern Star, the Retired Senior Citizens Club, and Volunteered for the American Cancer Society.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Burial was held Saturday, August 18, at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport, with Rev. Jeff McDowel officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Bath Ambulance Corps.
