Dear Congressman Kuhl... Dear Congressman Kuhl, I became a Republican after a tour in Viet- Nam because I believed Republicans would never be as stupid as the Democrats had been to get us into a war without 1.) a compelling need, 2.) sufficient understanding of our adversary and 3.) the planning and troop strength necessary to win. Wow, was I wrong on all counts. The Bush administration is a failed administration owing to deceit, corruption and incompetence; squandering our resources, creating enemies, and stretching our military thin allowing al Qaeda to regroup in Afghanistan. Pursuing the policies of preemptive war, extraordinary rendition, torture and illegal spying, our great nation under Bush is becoming the evil he claims to rid the world of. George W. Bush does not tolerate any informed decision that does not meet his vision. Remember General Shinsecki, who warned against going into the Iraq war with the now disgraced Rumsfeld game plan? Will any military leader hand picked by Bush tell us other than what Bush wants to hear? Iraq today is best summed up by a report dated July 13, 2007 Baghdad, in which our forces fought uniformed Iraqi police. Their uniforms, guns, ammo, food, lodging and training were provided by our tax dollars and used against our own troops. This is success? Are our memories too short to recall the "Light at the end of the tunnel" speeches by the Viet-Nam war supporters? Congressman Kuhl, you have told us often that you were not in a position to vote for the war but you are now in a position to bring the travesty to a close. Do not stain your hands with the blood of more Americans by prolonging Bush's war. Bring them home now. Wayne Wells Cameron Mills | |||||
