Stanley Allen Dockstader AVOCA - Stanley Allen Dockstader, 72 years of Avoca, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He was born July 31, 1935 in Howard, the son of the late Ernestine H. and Stanley F. Dockstader. Older sister Barbara JoAnne and son, Douglas J. Irwin, preceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Rose "Dee" (Ryan) Dockstader; three daughters, Brenda (Butch) Burdin of Howard, Belinda (Norm) Calton of Kailua Kona, Hawaii and Bonnie (Leon) Irwin-Pocock of Warsaw; one son, David (Vicki) Dockstader of Howard; his only living aunt, Dorothea Lysyczyn Klick of Avoca; two brothers, Nelson (Barb) Dockstader and Carl (Candy) Dockstader; one sister, Phyllis (Bill) Koenemann; 10 grandchildren, Cheyanne, Marianne, Kalina (Keoni), Brandi (Jereme), David, Mat, Marika, Erika, Rachel and Casey; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kaille and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Avoca Central School, class of 1953 he also attended the LeTourneau Technical School in Texas. He was a member of the Wallace Methodist Church, a Little League coach for several years in Avoca, a past Commander of the Avoca American Legion, a member of the Avoca Legion (Thur. nite "wannabe" club), a past chief for the Wallace Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Avoca Rod & Gun Club and the Steuben Fast Ball League. For over 43 years he was employed at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport and the past nine years for the Simmons-Rockwell Hornell office. An avid golfer, fisherman and hunter, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Friends and family called at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca Sept. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Avoca Funeral Home with the Rev. Kathy Greene officiating. Interment was held in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wallace Volunteer Fire Dept. and the American Cancer Society.
