Smaller businesses are better businesses

To the Editor,

A senior citizen lady needs help at times, and I for one sure do.

It was Scott Ward and his men from M.J. Ward & Son that came to my rescue. They delivered me eight tons of wood pellets and brought a fork lift machine so they could be stacked in the protective covering they were in. Even swept the garage floor, all with a smile and gracious attitude.

Proves to me a smaller business is better than a large conglomerate that wouldn't accommodate a customer in this circumstance.

My grocery shopping I enjoy doing at P & C. Always welcomed with a cheery hello and how are you today. Groceries are bagged so I can lift them and then they are taken to my car and loaded in the trunk for me.

Have shopped here so long these employees are like a second family. They are special to me.

Whereever I go in this town I am treated very nicely. We are so fortunate. Let's hope Bath doesn't get turned into a strip mall atmosphere, it's too beautiful a place for that.

Why do our finances always help the "Big Grabbers" who take all and then beat feet leaving us in the dust to stare at their "Big Box?"

Perhaps if we started helping our own first, we could fill the empty stores on Liberty Street. Aren't we worth it.

In days gone by, we were not ruled by the almighty dollar or judged by it either. We had peace in our valley and all had admiration for our town.

As the saying gores - "Money Talks" and today we are disgraced by the sex, drugs and crime that has infiltrated our streets.

What has to happen to us? May God Bless our town and America. We need it.
