Deanna Lee Geyer

SCIO, NEW YORK - Deanna Lee Geyer, 60, of 4056 State Route 19, died on Sunday, Sept. 16, at home with her family at her side. She was born August 5, 1947 in Hammondsport, the daughter of Raymond and Flora (Cummings) Perkins. On August 17, 1968 she married Thomas G. Geyer who survives.

Dee was a former cook at the V.A. Medical Center in Bath where she received the V.A. Safety Award. She was employed the frequently visited almost every restaurant in Wellsville; she had worked at the Babcock Theater in Wellsville, the J. J. Newberry Store in Wellsville for over 11 years and later at the Truck Stop in Belvedere. For 4 1/2 years she was a Girls Scout leader in Wellsville; responsible for 18 troops, 36 leaders and 400 girls. She also organized the first Girl Scout International Day and Parade in Wellsville. She served as Vice President of the Immaculate Conception School; Home-School Association, where she presented the original idea for the ICS Fun Fair and was an integral part of the original Fun Fair Committee. She was an energetic member of the committee that unsuccessfully tried to bring a new Recreation Center to the Town of Wellsville. She was an election inspector for 15 years; a member of the Woman of the Moose; chapter 248, and avid bingo player and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son; Michael Geyer of Corning; daughter Stacie (David) Woodruff of Wellsville; three grandchildren Tyler Green, Tristen and Trace Woodruff all at home; three sisters, her twin, Diane (Walter) Reed of Scio, Becky Jordan of Rochester and Margaret Perkins of Bath; a brother John (Nora) Perkins of Savona; her mother-in-law Lois M. Geyer of Bath; sister-in-law Lois E. Geyer of Scottsville and her uncle Norm Davis of Rochester. She was predeceased in addition to her parents by a brother Joe Perkins.

Friends were invited to call on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral was held on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Ernest Tracy presiding. Burial was held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio. Memorial suggestions include Home Care & Hospice, 118 N. Main Street Wellsville, NY 14895; the American Cancer Society or any charity of the donor's choice.
