The blotter Welfare fraud Steuben County Sheriff's deputies last week charged Dawn M. Allen, 35, and Christopher J. Allen, 36, of 9607 Way Mandalay Road, Apt. B, Hammondsport, with fourth degree welfare fraud and first degree offering a false instrument for filing. The couple allegedly failed to report employment to the Steuben County Department of Social Services, which resulted in their receiving more than $2,1000 in public assistance to which they were not entitled. They were issued appearance tickets for a later date in village court. The Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit of the Department of Social Services assisted in the investigation. Marijuana Bath village police last week charged Scott Rivers, 20, of Prattsburgh with unlawful possession of marijuana following their response to an altercation at Wilson Park. Rivers was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in village court. Shoplifting Village police also charged Kyle Conley, 17, of Bath with petit larceny for allegedly shoplifting at the Misba Mart in Bath. He was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in village court. |
