ERIC WENSEL/THE LEADER Bath Haverling's Andre McCloud evades Caledonia- Mumford's Steve Lauffer.
BATH - The Bath Haverling football team used the strength of 319 rushing yards to defeat perennial LCAA powerhouse Caledonia- Mumford 34-14 Friday, Oct. 12.

Andre McCloud had a big performance with 161 rushing yards on just 12 carries, an average of 13.4 yards per rush. McCloud scored the game's first touch down with a 37-yard burst throu gh Caledonia-Mumford's defense to make the score 7-0 after Brad York's point after was successful.

Caledonia-Mumford struck back later in the first quarter with a 14-yard touch down run by Jeremy Wilson, capped off with a John Marozzi twopoint conversion run to make the score 8-7.

Bath got the lead back on an 18-yard McCloud touchdown and a Jake Kuver twopoint conversion to make the score 15-8 going into halftime.

McCloud kept the chains moving to open the second half and bounced off a few tacklers on his way for a 25- yard touch down scamper, his third of the game. The point after touch down kick failed and the score was 21-8.

Nate Schiedel of Caledonia- Mumford responded with a 1- yard run to cut the lead to 21- 14 Rams lead after the twopoint conversion failed.

With a seven-point lead going into the fourth quarter the Rams finally put the game out of reach with McCloud's fourth touch down run of the game from 54 yards. Jake Kuver added a 25-yard run in the fourth and Matt Whedbee came up with a big goal line stand on fourth down for the Rams on defense.

"I don't know the last time we beat Cal-Mum," said Bath Haverling head coach Wayne Carroll. "Unless someone can tell me the last time we beat Cal-Mum, it's still kind of trivia question that no one has been able to answer."

The defense stepped up for the Rams, led by T.C. Carroll's 12 tackles and Nick Carroll's 10 tackles. Teammate Eric Argentieri recorded seven tackles for the Rams that held Class C No. 4 state ranked Caledonia-Mumford to just 14 points.

"They are a team with a lot of tradition," added Carroll, "they've won four state titles and 13 sectional titles dating back to 1977 when we started the New York State playoffs."

It was senior night at Haverling high and the eight seniors won't soon forget this victory.

"We recognized our eight seniors and it was a great memory for those guys," said coach Carroll. "It's one of our program's biggest wins, we just don't play those types of teams very often and, when we do, a win is hard to come by."
