Backdoor politics in Urbana? To the Editor, First and most important I want to state I'm 100% for a good well run Senior Home here in Hammondsport. After I finished reading a newspaper article Oct. 15, 2007 about the senior housing, I did get a lot out of it. The worst part was what I got out of it was nothing really about the project. Maybe if it was written by another person and maybe not so much information from the same persons that have either withheld information about former projects or that have given misleading information to the taxpayers of the Town of Urbana, as it is so very hard to believe much of any information we do get. First we see a statement that said something about walking away gracefully, then we see a statement saying, I'll have to think about the Democrats' endorsement. That was after a letter was read a the Democratic caucus asking for the democrats endorsement. As a Democrat, I sure wouldn't go to a rejected Republican for my candidate and that is the way it was made to sound. I personally think that this whole article was written for political reasons and is nothing less than more back door politics. I think there is a skunk in the woodpile and we are going to see more candidates running at election time. I think every person that is asking for our vote should have the backbone to meet the public and answer public questions, not wait and try to sneak in the back door unquestioned. I realize we can't turn back time, but I'd much rather read about Aunt Millie going to visit her sister than all the unpleasant news we get. Good ole unbiased reporting. James George Hammondsport |
