Public should attend Oct. 30 hearing

To the Editor,

There will be a public hearing regarding the 2008 budget for the Town of Prattsburgh on Tuesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. The Town will publish a small notice in the paper to fulfill its legal obligation. Much like most public hearings, I anticipate the meeting to open and close within a few minutes, as the public will not show up to be heard.

In January, much like every January, these same people will get their tax bills, and there will be much grumbling at the coffee shops, in the barrooms and at workplaces everywhere.

We are very fortunate to live in a place where we have the right to voice our opinions, and we should take full advantage of our rights, as there are millions of people around the world who don't even have the right to complain, let alone the right to make changes in our government.

I have my own opinions of how our board is spending our money, but my point here is not to voice my opinion. My point is to remind you all that you have the right to voice your opinion. I hope to see you Tuesday.

Seven R. Kula Prattsburgh
