Prattsburgh woman helping Mexico flood victims
From staff reports

CORNING A Prattsburgh woman is assisting relief efforts in flooded southern Mexico.

Winnie Romeril, has been working in Tabasco, Mexico, helping residents deal with the flooding and landslides that have plagued that area of the coun try.

The Prattsburgh resident has helped provide relief at several disaster areas around the world.

Romeril said she has spent much of the past few days bringing relief supplies in by helicopter to people stranded by the flood waters.

"The communities that I visited have been really grateful for assistance," Romeril said.

Romeril said sometimes the areas are so flood ravaged that the helicopter cannot even land.

"There are just island communities with people that run out to meet the helicopter," she said. "Other times we are able to find a little piece of land and we can put the helicopter down."
