Stockings for children

PHOTO BY ROB PRICE Volunteers pack boxes with gifts and homemade Christmas stockings as part of a program organized by the Steuben County Task force for the Prevention of Child Abuse, made up of representatives from children and youth agencies in the county. According to Gary Pruyn, director of the county Youth Bureau, the donations have come from as far away as Colorado, where10-year-old Russel Gibson made his own stocking. Dentists in Bath and Hammondsport meanwhile donated toothpaste, brushes and floss. Volunteers will gather again on Dec. 12 to pack more boxes, which will be taken to the Kinights of Columbus for the organization's annual Care and Share program.
