C-S Elementary School celebrates season of giving

SAVONA - The Campbell- Savona elementary school organized numerous acts of kindness during this holiday season, with students keeping busy by donating their time and talents to support area organizations. Community members hahve also donated items to support our students and their families.

The Pre-K students donated kitchen and personal care items as well as monetary donation to the Steuben Church People Against Poverty.

Kindergarten, third, fourth, and sixth grade students made cards for roops in Iraq.

First grade classrooms donated items to the SPCA in Elmira, while 4th and 5th grade students made donations to the SPCA in Bath,.

Fourth grade students made donations toTeddy Bears for the Emergency Services, made bird feeders with food for the school courtyard and collected money for a student fighting cancer..

Fifth grade students also donated non-perishable food items to a food bank…

Elementary student Samantha and Starr Rogers organized a bake sale and raised $500 for Operation Greater Joy. The Kids' Adventure Club held a mitten, hat, glove, and scarf drive…

Elementary school staff members also raised $400 and purchased gift certificates to area restaurants to aid the family of a retired teacher. Staff members, community members, the Shared-Decision/Family Involvement and PTO provided a Christmas Shoppe for the students at no cost.

The Shared-Decision/Family Involvement and PTO also organized a Family Dinner and Movie Night,collecting food for area food banks…

The Campbell United Methodist Church donated food to the school and helped provide enough for 22 families… Polly-O Dairy, Corning Inc., several area churches and CS staff collaborated with food drives, gifts, and monetary donations that served over 70 families in our school community.

The combined faculty and staff in the C-S Elementary and Jr./Sr. High buildings collected over $900 and donated various items to help support a local family after a recent fire destroyed their home.
