Taylor library plans busy 2008

Winter Read

Kids can get cozy with books this winter at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial library by joining the 'Book-ATrip, Read Around the World program'.

Here's how it works: Anyone aged 3-12 may sign up by coming in the library between Jan. 7 and Feb. 16. Choose an activity sheet and a book about a continent. The following week, choose a prize from the library's treasure chest and pick out another activity sheet and book about another continent. Sign up during the first week to be eligible for a grand prize.

Story Time

Pre-school story time will be on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 11. Visit the library for fun with stories and crafts. Siblings are always welcome to tag along.

Little Readers

Little Readers learn-to-read program will be held on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. starting Jan. 8. Children in kindergarten and first grade will work on reading skills in a friendly no-pressure setting. Please pre-register by contacting the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library at (607)569- 2045.

Kid's Movie Day Once a month this winter the library will show a children's movie. The movies are free and open to the public. There also is popcorn

On Jan. 9th at 1 p.m. the movie will be 'Ratatouille." The movie will be shown on the lower level (Keuka Room) of the library. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Book Discussion

Love to read and talk about books? Book Discussion Group meets on the second Monday of the month in the Robinson Room at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library. Interested readers are always welcome to join!

Family Movie Nights

Once a month the library will show a family movie. The movies are free and open to the public. This month the family movie will be 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'. The show date is Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level (Keuka Room) of the library. Children 12 and under must have a grown up present.

Fine Amnesty Week

This is a great way to make a clean start for the new year. Bring in a food item to be donated to the local food pantry and the library will clear your record of all overdue fines. Fine amnesty week will run from Jan. 14-19.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Class- Forcing Bulbs

The Cornell Cooperative Extension will give a class on forcing flowering bulbs at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library on Wednesday, January 30th from 6-8pm. Contact the library to sign up!

Scrapbooking Class

Learn scrapbooking to keep your memories safe. The class will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the library.

Book Sale Advance

The Fred & Harriett Taylor Memorial Library will hold a book sale in the lower level of the library on Friday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
