Jasper-Troupsburg maintenance worker injured in small explosion JASPER - A Jasper- Troupsburg school maintenance man was injured when a gas pilot light in a cafeteria stove exploded Thursday morning, Jan. 3. The employee - whose name was not released by school officials - was injured around 8:30 a.m. in the Jasper High School cafeteria kitchen, according to district Superintendent Chad Groff. "There was no fire," Groff said. "He was lighting a pilot light on a stove when it lit some unexpended gas." No one else was injured in the accident, Groff said. No fire alarm was sounded in the building and students were not evacuated. Classes continued on schedule and the kitchen was up and running for lunch. The employee was transported by a Jasper ambulance to Corning Hospital for "superficial facial burns," according to Groff. Jasper firefighters responded to the scene. |
