The blotter Kidnapping State police in Bath last week arrested Darren P. McEathon, 28, of Bath with second-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. McEathon on Aug. 18, 2007, allegedly assaulted a 16- year-old female and dragged her into a wooded area. He was arraigned in Bath town court and committed to the Steuben County Jail on $5,000 bail. Assault Bath village police last week charged Donovan W. Lawrence, 40, of 4 Pine St., Bath with third-degree assault after a domestic disturbance. Lawrence allegedly threw a can of beer at his wife, hitting her in the back and causing a minor injury. He was arraigned in Bath village court and is to reappear in court at a later date. Sexual misconduct Jacob Daniel Canute, 17, of Beck Drive Cameron, last week was charged with sexual misconduct, aggravated harassment and criminal sale of marijuana after he allegedly provided marijuana to a 13-yearold girl and had sexual intercourse with her. Canute also allegedly made a threatening phone call the victim's mother. In a related matter, Polly Jo Armstrong, 40, also of Beck Drive in Cameron, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly providing alcohol to the same 13- year-old victim and her 14- year-old friend. Both Canute and Armstrong are to appear in Cameron town court at a later date. Criminal mischief Bath village police last week charged Tommy D. Phillips, 29, of 1 Colonial Lawn Apartments in Bath with felony criminal mischief after he allegedly kicked in the windshield of his girlfriend's car. Phillips was arraigned in village court and is to reappear in court at a later date. Court warrant Steuben County Sheriff's deputies last week served a Chemung County court warrant on Cindy E. Huffner, 45, of Campbell charging her with failure to appear in court after she was subpoenaed as a witness. Huffner was turned over to Chemung County Sheriff's deputies. Registry law Village police last week arrested Paul A. Wolff, 28, of 98 Lamphear Court, Corning, for allegedly violating the sex offender registry law. Wolff allegedly failed to notify the village police department when he moved from the Village of Bath to Corning. He was arraigned in Bath town court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of bail. |
